BASIC WICCAN TRADITION

COURSE CONTENT

This is an informal course for people willing to learn and who want to change their lives, mentally and spiritually.

The aim of this course is so that you can go away feeling empowered, with enough knowledge to begin the path of Wicca on your own or with friends. We will all share fundamental aspects of the craft, with time for individual and group discussions. You will be given information on the basic tools a Wiccan would use, and why. Also you will learn how to adapt your skills and trust your inner instincts.

There will be a practical session where you can make and empower herbal charms. All materials will be provided.

This Course is suitable for complete beginners and those who have an interest and would like to further their knowledge.

Light Refreshments (Tea/Coffee/Herbal Tea/Soft Drinks) will be provided.

WHAT IS WICCA

A wiccan or wicca is a practitioner of a nature-based belief system or religion. Not all Witches follow the same path though. There is the old religion which some feel is the only one for them it has its roots in pagan pre-monotheistic folk ways and beliefs and usually follows the seasonal cycles. Some wiccans believe in a polytheistic deity structure based upon the gods and goddesses of the area they are interested in, but some simply practice magick and there are some like myself which practice an eclectic wiccan based religion system.

Many wiccans practice alone they are called solitaries or kitchen witches, and there are some which are part of a group that get together and perform sabbats and rituals, and there are those that are in well structured covens. It is NOT imperative that you work in a coven to become a adept witch.

Although there are a lot of differences between the groups there are also just as many similarities, the tools that are used… the book of shadows that are written, full details of all the tools and reasons for them will be detailed in the course.

When it comes down to basics though if you want to follow a nature based path or religion then you should follow it in the way that you feel most happy. Trust your gut instincts if you are happy in the kitchen concocting some brew then carry on as a kitchen witch until you feel that you need more or that you want to move to something else or indeed you may remain a kitchen witch. It’s a personal choice and one that only you can make.

I have come across the question of initiation now a million times now… and my answer has always remained the same… personally I think that no you don’t have to be. After you have made the decision as to which path or route to take, who out there has the right to tell you that you HAVE to do it another way or that you HAVE to be initiated. After all who initiated the first witches??? There are plenty of initiations available to the solitary practitioner. If you feel happier in a coven then by all means follow that route again listen to the god and goddess the inner voice and follow what your heart feels is right.

The list of names that come up under paganism is vast, witch wiccan, pagan druid shaman the list goes on, many simply call themselves "pagans" or Neo-pagans" when talking with others who may not be familiar with path that they have chosen,

Just as not all christians are catholic or church of england, not all pagans are witches or wiccans. Neo paganism tends to be a term that describes most people who follow a nature based religion.

Still interested WITCHCRAFT?

Firstly remember that most of the information that is past down in wicca and witchcraft has its origins in a lot of myth and legend and some historical documentation, just as no one is completely sure of any religion.

There is NO one rule book that all witches follow nor is there ONE right way to become a wiccan. Anyone that tells you that THEIR way is the one true path to paganism wicca or any of the above mentioned religions is unfortunately living illusions of grandure.
